NEW ARRIVALS
Rolling Stones ticket
The National Football Museum recently acquired a ticket for the Rolling Stones concert at Wembley Stadium in 1982. Although the museum’s collection focuses on the history of football, it is very important to document the history of stadiums and their various uses besides football.
The donor of the ticket remembers the night of the concert as follows:
‘I went to see the Rolling Stones in the summer of 1982 with some friends at the end of my first year at Bristol University. We weren’t expecting much as we already thought they were past it (and yet they are still going 26 years later!), but in fact Jagger was amazing, jumping and dancing all over a long narrow stage that they set up for him so he could run in amongst the crowd at the front. But, being a football fan, what I most remember was that it was the first time I had gone to Wembley.’
