Liverpool won the First Division Championship for the second time in succession.
Notts County were the Second Division Champions, Nelson won the Third Division North and Bristol City won the Third Division South.
Bolton Wanderers defeated West Ham to win the first FA Cup Final at the new Wembley Stadium, in what will always be known as the 'White Horse FA Cup Final' because of the film footage of the police horse used to clear crowds that had spilled onto the pitch.
Sir John Moores and Littlewoods founded the world's first Football Pools, based in Liverpool.
Ian Penrose, Chief Executive of Sportech, the owner of the New Football Pools said: “The Football Pools, the iconic national institution, was formed outside Old Trafford in 1923. We have acquired Littlewoods, Vernons and Zetters Football Pools, merged them together, rebranded and relaunched in 2008 as The New Football Pools. We have introduced a range of exciting new games, coupled with new and easy ways to play to attract a wider audience. To play these traditional and new games and join nearly one million players each week, go to ww.footballpools.com for your chance to win up to £3 million by predicting the outcome of football fixtures.”
