Museum welcomes Consulate General of People's Republic of China in Manchester
The National Football Museum were pleased to welcome the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Manchester, recently. The Consulate General was accompanied by his wife, son and Consul and were joined by Cllr Anthony Jones, Chairman of Lancashire County Council and Kieran Curran, External Relations Policy Officer at the Council.
The visit to Preston was organised by Lancashire County Council and Cllr Jones wanted to show the Consulate General, Mr Ni Jian, the best of what Preston had to offer.
After a brief tour of the Harris Museum and lunch, the party arrived at the National Football Museum and were met by Museum Manager David Pearson and Education Officer Peter Evans, who gave them a full guided tour. They enjoyed hearing about the history of the football ground and some of the objects on display and then all took part in a penalty shoot out competition in Goalstriker. Councillor Jones was the winner, narrowly beating the Consul’s son, Eric, in the final shoot out.
Peter Evans commented ‘The Consulate General and his party seemed to enjoy their visit very much. We were pleased that the National Football Museum was included on his itinerary’.
