Major Appointment to Museum’s Research Partnership
The National Football Museum is delighted that the leading sports academic, Doctor Boria Majumdar, has been appointed as Senior Research Fellow at the International Football Institute (IFI). The IFI is the research partnership between the University of Central Lancashire and the National Football Museum. The IFI is delighted to welcome on board Dr Majumdar, a scholar with such an outstanding international reputation.
Dr Majumdar is a Rhodes Scholar and a visiting Professor at the University of Toronto. He has taught at Oxford University, the University of Chicago and La Trobe University, Melbourne. Consulting Editor with Times Now Television, he is also the Executive Academic Editor of the Routledge Journals Sport in Society and Soccer and Society and Joint General Editor of the Routledge series, Sport in the Global Society. Nominated Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum in 2009, some of his publications include, Olympics: The India Story (with Nalin Mehta) 2008, Goalless: The Story of a Unique Footballing Nation (with Kausik Bandyopadhyay) 2006 and Twenty-Two Yards to Freedom: A social history of Indian cricket, 2004. A columnist for the Times of India, Espn-Star Sports, Financial Express and Tehelka, he has featured in programmes for Times Now, Ten Sports, ESPN and BBC.
