DESCRIPTION:Every goal\, every assist\, every clean sheet\, it’s theirs. \nHot off the back of its award-winning\, offie-nominated Edinburgh Fringe run\, November Theatre brings you PITCH. \nDevised from conversations with hundreds of LGBTQIA+ players\, fans and professionals across the UK\, PITCH helps us imagine a future in which queer presence in the beautiful game is more than just a debate over a rainbow armband. DESCRIPTION:Prior to their performance of PITCH\, November Theatre are running a creative\, laid back flag-making workshop in the museum’s Pitch Gallery. \nExploring an object that has cultural history in both football and queer communities\, this three-hour workshop will delve into the history of the pride flag\, share some stories from political football history\, give you the opportunity to make your own banner and record your own experiences in a safe and joyful environment. \nThis is an all abilities\, no-sew workshop. Join November Theatre from 1pm to 4pm to create your own homage to LGBTQIA+ football history!

SUMMARY:MARKERS
DESCRIPTION:MARKERS brings together nine commissioned pieces of artwork from Manchester-based artists who have each selected a hero from the footballing world to honour. \nIt will explore each hero’s journey and the steps taken to complete a mission\, explore their call to action\, skills they equip themselves with and their learnings. Focusing on the impact these heroes have made beyond the white markings of the football pitch\, it will explore themes of LGBTQ+ rights\, immigration\, women’s football and ethnic minorities. \n \nHeroes included in MARKERS includes Eric Cantona\, Raheem Sterling\, Park Ji-sung\, Mary Phillip\, David Beckham\, Lionel Messi\, Pete the Badge\, Justin Fashanu and Lucy Clark. \nThe exhibition also features a dedicated Community Creative Hub\, allowing all visitors to represent their football heroes in an an artistic and creative way.

DESCRIPTION:Our latest Pitch Gallery exhibition\, A City United\, provides an endearing snapshot of 1970s football culture in the heart of Manchester\, courtesy of the late photographer Iain S. P. Reid. \nThis collection of portraits were taken at derby matches between 1976 and 1977\, featuring Manchester City and Manchester United fans decked out in their matchday finery ahead of the big game. \nThe photographs perfectly capture a sense of anticipation\, excitement and joy around one the city’s biggest football fixture\, and offer a warm and surprising counterpoint to the traditional narrative of hostility around derby matches.
