Some celebrations are so famous that they are trademarked by their players! \nThis February half term\, we are celebrating the celebrations themselves with a fun creative activity. You can make your own footballer in paper doll form\, building them limb by limb and securing the parts in place with safety pins. The end result is a player that can be moved into your preferred celebration pose\, be it a straight-armed Shearer or the popular ‘Cold Palmer’ (sorry\, Morgan Rogers). You could even come up with a completely unique celebration of your own! \nWe will also be asking visitors to practice heir own celebrations in real life at our Celebration Station. Grab a shirt and prop of your choice and strike a pose against our Pitch Gallery backdrop! \n

Join award-winning poet Monika Radojevic in a drop-in creative writing session where you’ll create new\, empowering poems out of outdated\, tired stereotypes. This is a beginner-friendly workshop that is open to everyone.

DESCRIPTION:As part of our upcoming top-secret exhibition\, we will be inviting three poets to explore the new display’s themes and wordplay in a series of exciting workshops. \nThese workshops will take place on the Score Gallery\, draw inspiration from their surroundings and encouraging visitors to explore its themes through wordplay and poetry. \nRuth Awolola is a poet\, performer and theatre-maker\, who has showcased her poetry for a wide variety of audiences\, specifically schools and young people. Ruth has performed across the United Kingdom and internationally\, including at the Hay Literature Festival and the BBC Edinburgh Fringe Slam\, and is currently Learning Officer at MMU’s Manchester Poetry Library. \nRuth will be running a Poetry of the Pitch session\, featuring different activities for a range of ages and abilities. These include fun acrostic poems\, writing from the perspective of an object\, and a special workshop on writing to the referee!
