SUMMARY:Football Fairytales with Sophia Hatfield
DESCRIPTION:“Sophia’s trying to sort out her washing\, but someone has used her nice clean clothes as goal posts! Now they’re all muddy! Oh well\, I suppose we all get a bit muddy when we’re busy playing. Can you help her sort through some of the washing and create some football fairy tales and make a football fairytale forest?” \nJoin us over on Saturday 17 and Tuesday 27 August as we create our own footy fairytale forest. Using washing lines\, pegs and socks\, visitors will be able to grow the forest with their own football-themed tales. Artist Sophia Hatfield will be leading creative workshops on the day\, helping to bring your stories – and the literary forest – to life!

SUMMARY:Love It If We Beat Them
DESCRIPTION:It’s Spring 1996\, Kevin Keegan’s Newcastle United are riding high in the Premier League and Tony Blair’s New Labour are gathering pace. Hope is in the air and victory seems within reach. \nLen\, a long term hard left activist\, has decided to run as a candidate for local Labour MP\, but the arrival of Victoria from Manchester as New Labour’s front runner throws a spanner in the works. With loyalties tested and tensions reaching fever pitch\, the winning team will be decided in an explosive head-to-head challenge.  \nSet against the backdrop of the infamous Premier League season when Newcastle United almost won under the management of Kevin Keegan\, Love It If We Beat them explores the age-old political questions: What is power without principle? And what are principles without power?  \nLove It If We Beat Them from Emmerson & Ward is a new political drama that explores a time of significant change in the identity of the North East communities and perfectly captures a moment in recent history that defines who we are today. Contains strong language and themes of child loss\, recommended age 14+. \n“Personal and political\, local and universal\, set in a recognisable past yet relevant today.” The Stage 4**** \nClick here to book your tickets\n \nCreative Team \nWriter – Rob Ward \nDirector – Bex Bowsher \nDesigner – Alison Ashton  \nSound Designer – Matthew Tuckey  \nLighting Designer – Anna Reddyhoff \nwww.emmersonandward.com

SUMMARY:Admiral: 50 Years of the Replica Shirt
DESCRIPTION:Our latest Pitch Gallery exhibition tells the story of the football shirt pioneers\, from their humble beginnings in a Leicestershire textile town to official kit manufacturers for the England national team. \nThroughout the seventies\, Admiral changed the very fabric of the beautiful game\, making the shirts worn by superstars accessible to supporters of all ages. From the late fifties\, limited numbers of replica shirts were available for children only: Admiral transformed the entire market\, bringing football kits to the masses. \nThe exhibition picks the key moments in Admiral’s timeline through objects\, photographs and kit designs. Learn more about the early shirts that started a kit revolution\, the processes behind their trademark style and their eye-catching modern-day rebirth. \nAdmiral: 50 Years of the Replica Shirt is on display to coincide with the release of 50 Years Of The Replica Shirt: The Admiral Book.

SUMMARY:A City United
DESCRIPTION:Our latest Pitch Gallery exhibition\, A City United\, provides an endearing snapshot of 1970s football culture in the heart of Manchester\, courtesy of the late photographer Iain S. P. Reid. \nThis collection of portraits were taken at derby matches between 1976 and 1977\, featuring Manchester City and Manchester United fans decked out in their matchday finery ahead of the big game. \nThe photographs perfectly capture a sense of anticipation\, excitement and joy around one the city’s biggest football fixture\, and offer a warm and surprising counterpoint to the traditional narrative of hostility around derby matches.
