Black Arsenal landscape

Arsenal’s connection to Black identity is special. Its multicultural fandom reflects the changing city that surrounds the club and the unique relationship it has developed with Black British culture.

From decades of fielding iconic Black players on the pitch, through the storied and diverse histories of its terraces, the North London club has emerged as a powerful symbol of what an organic multiculture can mean for society today.

Black Arsenal: Club, Culture, Identity explores these themes, with contributions from club legends Ian Wright and Paul Davis, as well as reflections from Ezra Collective, Amy Lawrence and Clive Palmer.

Join the book’s editors, Clive Chijioke Nwonka and Matthew Harle, for a conversation around the Gunners’ Black identity, chaired by Dr Paul Ian Campbell. the Chair of the museum’s Black in the Game co-curatorial group.

This event is part of our Football Voices Festival. The three-day festival is free for all Season Ticket holders, but free places for the evening talks must be booked in advance below.
