It is one of the most dramatic fixtures in European history.1999, UEFA Champions League Final, Camp Nou.

Bayern Munich lead Manchester United courtesy of an early Mario Basler goal and, with just stoppage time remaining, looked to have done enough to clinch the trophy.

From a late Beckham corner, Ryan Giggs’ shot was turned in by substitute Teddy Sheringham, seemingly taking the game to extra time.

Thirty seconds later, United won another corner. Beckham delivered once more, Sheringham glanced it goalwards, and fellow substitute Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was on hand to poke home the unlikeliest of winners.

It was United’s first top-tier European silverware since their 1958 European Cup triumph over Benfica (though they did also win the Cup Winners’ Cup in 1991).

Denis Irwin featured in all but one of the Red Devils’ European games that season. He wore this during the final itself, playing the full ninety minutes (plus stoppages) at left-back.
