This programme was sold at the 2005 Women’s FA Cup Final – and looks a little different to the usual matchday literature.
Ahead of the Wembley showpiece, the Sunday Express ran a competition giving children the chance to see their illustrations on the front cover. This drawing, featuring a player apiece from finalists Charlton Athletic and Everton, was drawn by Gillian Prescott.
Coincidentally, Gillian was the goddaughter of a previous Women’s FA Cup winner: none other than Sheila Parker, the Lionesses’ first official captain, and winner of the cup with Fodens in 1974.
The final itself was determined by just one goal from a young Eniola Aluko, giving the Addicks their first (and to date only) FA Cup success.
