Why do we have a 1:1 scale replica of a footballer’s head on display?
This is a recreation of Sergio Aguero’s head, made from scans taken for EA Sports’ FIFA 16 title. These 3D scans allowed EA Sports to replicate a player’s likeness with increasing accuracy season on season.
It proved to be a particularly good year for the game producers, as FIFA 15 sold 14 million units. Aguero, meanwhile, enjoyed a good season on an individual level, winning the Premier League’s Golden Boot, but Manchester City missed out on silverware.
This head was previously on display in Pitch to Pixel, an exhibition dedicated to football video games.
