Since making her debut in 2010, Ellen White quickly established herself as one of the Lionesses’ leading forwards. A regular scorer for a host of WSL clubs, White also proved to be capable of finding the net at international level, scoring 38 goals prior to 2021.
Ellen was on fire in the run-up to the Women’s Euros in 2022, becoming the Lionesses’ all-time top scorer when she scored a hat-trick in a record-shattering 20-0 win over Latvia.
It was no surprise that she was chosen to lead the line for England at their host tournament. She started all six games, scoring twice in the 8-0 routing of Norway during the group phase.
She played 55 minutes of the final against Germany before she was replaced by Alessia Russo. The Lionesses went on win 2-1 in extra time, courtesy of a goal from Chloe Kelly.
Having collected her winner’s medal. White retired from professional football. She remains the record goalscorer for the Lionesses with 52 goals to her name.
